JUNE 14: Its World Blood Donor Day
JUNE 14: It’s another World Blood Donor Day
The theme for 2018 world blood donor day campaign is “Blood Donation is an action of solidarity” with the slogan“Be there for someone else. Give blood. Share Life”. The campaign emphasizes the need to raise wider awareness that blood donation is an altruistic action that benefits all society; and that an adequate supply can only be ensured through regular donations by voluntary non- remunerated blood donors.
World Blood Donor Day (WBDD), was established in 2004 to raise awareness on the need for safe blood and blood products, and to thank blood donors for their voluntary, life-saving gifts of blood. This is also one of eight official global public health campaigns recognized by World Health Organization (WHO).
Here in Nigeria, APIN joins the rest of the world to celebrate all heroes, unpaid blood donors across the country who through their gift of blood, have saved many lives.
Please consider being a blood donor and share life.
Here in Abuja, APIN shall be supporting the media interactive session with secondary school students- members of Secondary School Blood Safety (SSBS) program, an activity of NBTS designed to catch them young. The goal is to create awareness on safe blood and blood donation among these school children, and as they grow to become blood safety advocates. A lot of them are also recruited at the appropriate age to become regular non-remunerated blood donors.
Give Blood. Share Life.
